Easter Traditions

Howdy!

Every year, Mom and I would manage to eat unknown quantities of Robins Eggs candy. We already loved Whoppers but that candy coating and seasonal availability made them soooo hard to resist.

It was not unusual to have "secret" stashes of Robin Eggs around the house. It was our fun every Spring.

This year, I had to get my fix. I just chose to do it in a manageable size. Since I've lost some weight and I didn't want a complete sugar high, I paced myself to make this cute little package of Robin Eggs last two days. Yes, for some of you that know me, this is a miracle. If I would have bought the bag, I would have eaten the whole thing in those two days, but thank goodness for will power!

Such a simple but good candy. Such great memories.

I love you Mom. I ate the whole carton, thinking of you.

Glitter on the Flowers

Howdy!

I will give the Colorado weather forecasters credit. They do a good job of predicting the weather. They say it's gonna snow, it will. I just wish it wasn't this late in the spring when flowers are blooming!

There are actually a few purple flowers in our yard that were savoring the sun, especially on Saturday when it was 70° and sunny.

Sunday night it started, just like they said.

Monday morning the precious few purple flowers that were in our yard were covered in snow. Sigh. The snow melted away by the afternoon tho! I'll have to check in on the flowers and hope they're hardy.

Today: sunny and a high of 64°. Amazing weather here!

March Snow?

Howdy!

Sunday was 70° and sunshine. We took the bike to dinner. Remember the last post?

Here's what I walked out to after work yesterday:

Yes, a fabulous little dusting of snow. That froze.

As cold as it was, it was pretty.

Now, be done with the cold and bring on the sun!

Ready to Ride!

Howdy!

It's been a while but there's been all sorts of things going on. I'll fill you in on just one portion of the adventures.

Rod bought himself a little birthday present in mid-January.

Yes, the crotch rocket grew up and became a 2013 Goldwing. Spoiled? Yes. Happy? Yes! That's just my opinion. He of course loves it. Since he brought it home, he's put 1,200 miles on it. He doesn't ride when it's freezing out or the roads are iffy. But if there's sun, he's on it.

In fact, it was a 70° day today and when he got home from work, we took it out for dinner. Ok, that sounded weird but I'm sure you understand. We rode it to dinner and for a nice ride.

One of the things I learned last summer is my mom's Harley jacket is HOT! It's black leather and in the summer sun, I think I was melting. That jacket is awesome for winter riding so it'll still be going out for rides, but now I'm set for the summer...

A Joe Rocket mesh jacket with a waterproof removable liner. There's road armor all over and corseting in the back to help it fit better. I like the corseting. It looks good. The white shows up better when we're on the road. Yes, Dad, I thought of safety. The silver coordinates with the bike. There's swirly embellishments on the sides and sleeves. I love those details! Thanks for the awesome jacket, my man!

Of course we have group rides planned for this summer and I can't wait to hit the road in style and comfort.

New Year Shopping!

You know what the best part of New Years is? Clearance sales!

I got my shopping fix the other day and scored some great deals along with something new from Christopher & Banks.

The black one in the back is a nicely styled t-shirt from Old Navy. I own one t-shirt from ON that I got in a clothing swap (thank you Tracy!) and I love how it fits. I was hoping for something similar, but this one is very cute on (why else would I buy it?) and a nice t-shirt for work.

The blue one with embroidery I found at Kohl's, along with the red patterned one. The blue one is another great casual t-shirt for work and the red one is sleeveless. Yep, layer with a blazer or cardigan. Both of these were under $5 each! Oh my!

The blue one in the front is from Christopher & Banks and I paid full price for it and it didn't bother me in the slightest! My mom used to buy me clothes from C&B for Christmas every year. Well, we actually bought stuff for each other and had several C&B Christmases! Now that she's gone, the tradition I have chosen to carry on is a new shirt from C&B every Christmas. This year I was unemployed until just before the holiday, so when the money and time was right, off I went to get my new shirt! This one is sheer with a sleeveless tee underneath it. Really good looking for work. I'm sure Mom would approve.

The coolest thing about this clearance season? I've been able to enjoy it with the earnings from my new job! Woot!

Now, just a touch of winter weather commentary. When it's overcast, raining, snowing or something other than sunshine, PLEASE drive with your headlights on! I am amazed at how many folks drive without them on and it is so hard to see those cars in winter weather. My dad taught me to always drive with my headlights on, rain or shine. So for me, it's automatic. I can only hope you will drive with your headlights on so you are more visible on the road.

Until next time, enjoy the day!
